Nutrition and Healthy Eating – March 2025

Published On: March 4th, 2025|Categories: Blog|

March is Nutrition Month, a time to emphasize the importance of healthy eating. Our Dietary Department works hard to prepare and serve meals that are both nutritious and delicious. When creating menus for SpringBrook, our dining managers consider each meal individually while also looking at the weekly menu as a whole. Each meal will always include a source of protein, a vegetable (either cooked or raw, such as a salad), and a starch like rice or potatoes. The majority of our meals and desserts are made from scratch right here in our kitchen and are always prepared with no salt added (NSA). Our menus are seasonal and rotate every four to six weeks throughout the year.

The Dietary Department welcomes input from residents. Comment cards are available at the Suggestion Box, and our dining managers love to receive favorite recipes from residents to try out. This helps ensure that residents don’t become bored with their meal options. However, we understand that some people prefer consistency and may not want to try something new. Therefore, we offer an Alternative Menu for those who are not feeling adventurous or do not want the Daily Special. This menu features several entrée options, such as burgers, sandwiches, and grilled chicken, along with a variety of sides like soup, salad, mashed potatoes, fresh fruit, and steamed vegetables.

If you are considering touring our facility, you are welcome to stay for lunch or dinner with advance notice. Come and enjoy our delicious offerings, and don’t forget to try our home-baked, made-from-scratch desserts!
