Staying Safe and Active

Healthy Aging Month and Falls Prevention Month.

Remaining active is crucial for older adults as their bodies age. Engaging in a single session of physical activity can offer immediate health benefits. Furthermore, consistent participation in physical activities yields long-term advantages, as stated by the CDC.

Immediate Benefits:

  • Improved sleep quality
  • Reduces feelings of anxiety
  • It can help reduce blood pressure

Long Term Benefits:

  • Brain Health: Reduces risk of depression.
  • Heart Health: Lowers risk of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.
  • Healthy Weight: Reduces risk of weight gain.
  • Bone Strength: Improves bone health.
  • Balance and Coordination: Reduces risks of falls.

At SpringBrook, we encourage resident participation in the various exercise activities we offer, such as our walking path, seated Zumba, water aerobics, and chair aerobics. Additionally, residents have access to the Fitness Room, which is equipped with two NuStep recumbent bikes, resistance bands, and free weights.

SpringBrook prioritizes resident health and well-being and we look to our families to help encourage resident health.  As part of Falls Prevention Month, we are collaborating with Aegis Therapies for a presentation on the best ways to prevent falls.  They will also offer complimentary walker checks.

Please join us on September 16th at 3:00 pm.
