SpringBrook Dining Experience

A pleasant dining experience is vital to the health and lifestyle of our residents. In simplest terms, mealtimes meet nutrition and hydration needs. However, they also promote social and emotional wellness, allowing residents to exercise their independence and enjoy friendships.

At SpringBrook we offer and support meal choices. Residents may choose their entrées and beverages. If you do not call the kitchen before the meal to let them know you want an alternate entrée, there will be a wait while your selection is prepared. We try to accommodate a resident’s habits. A resident who has not been in the habit of eating breakfast for most of his or her life may not want to come to the dining room bright and early each morning. Simply let dining services know that you do not wish to come to the dining room for a meal, or if you prefer, you may pick up your meal from the dining room and take it to your apartment.

SpringBrook staff offer assistance for all three meals. They assist with serving, getting beverages, and clearing tables. Occasionally there may be conflicts or situations in the dining room that are making some residents uncomfortable. Staff may need to adjust seating arrangements to deal with these issues, or to solve mobility problems. Please do not be offended if you are asked to move or rearrange.

There are no assigned or reserved seats in the main dining room. Friendships develop and people may prefer to sit together. Current residents should be friendly and welcoming to new residents who would like to get to know others during mealtimes and group activities.

We also try to make the dining experience in the CBRF for our residents with memory loss closely resemble a relaxed family-style setting. Without overwhelming residents, staff will offer options and ask them to choose what they would like. Simpler foods, such as finger foods, are available to accommodate residents with varying degrees of ability.

We do not want to have residents in the main dining room outside of normal dining hours because dietary staff need time to clean the floor, bus and clean the tables, and set tables for the next meal. We also want to make sure that our dining room always has a clean and presentable appearance.

Our main dining room hours are:

  • Breakfast: 7:30 – 8:30
  • Lunch: 11:30 – 12:30
  • Dinner: 4:30 – 5:30
